15 year-old boy upcycles tons of textile waste, turns them into clothes for 2,500 underprivileged children!

15-year-old Tanay Jain, a grade 10 student of St James school in Kolkata was astounded to witness how much textile waste is being wasted when he visited his father's textile manufacturing factory. This motivated him to use this tons of waste and stitch clothes for small children! 👗⁣

Even at a very young age, Tanay has already started his own foundation, the Katran Foundation which has upcycled 3,500 meters of cloth, donated 2,500 dresses to underprivileged children in Kolkata and other cities such as Guwahati, and provided employment to 68 karigars (craftsmen) across Kolkata.⁣

To reach more underprivileged children and donors, Tanay, along with three of his classmates — Raunak Seksaria, Pratham Madhogaria, and Raunak Sarawagi — started an Instagram page called Katran Foundation (@katran_foundation) where they explain the work they do, who they impact, and how you can help too. ⁣

In the coming months, Tanay hopes to help more orphanages, karigars, and partner with more factories to collect waste cloth from them.⁣
